Is it common for someone to be able to bench press 535 pounds without using steroids?

A friend of mine can bench press 535 pounds and he claims he doesn’t use steroids. Meanwhile I am still struggling to reach 300. Is it normal for someone who doesn’t use steroids to be able to bench press 535? Or do you think he’s lying about using steroids? I’ve been lifting weights for over a year, and I’m still not quite to 300. I don’t go to a gym, so I don’t see how much other people are benching. But 535 seems like a lot to me.
